For Field Players

U-8 Thru U-10

* Dribbling the ball using the inside & outside of the foot, alternating the feet on each touch.

* First touch- establishing a good touch on the ball.

* Teach moves- give the players two moves to work on until they master them, increase moves 
   two at a time each time mastered.

* Passing- teach the proper technique on placement of foot that the ball should be struck with.

* Shooting- teach the proper technique on placement of foot that ball should be struck with.

* Heading- hand thrown balls to the head teaching proper body position and part of
   head to use.

* Always implement good work ethics.

* Always end the practice with a game & let them have fun.

* For this age span the training should be focused on technical training.


U-11 Thru U-13


* The same skills should be done as in U-8 Thru U-10 except for heading drills - balls should be
   served with foot.

* Practice working on moves and playing 1-v-1 drills.

* All skills should be done with speed.

* Enforce good work ethics.

* Always play better competition. Don’t worry about results.

* Promote players to try out for O.D.P.

* Evaluation on player development.

* Train players to move off the ball in scrimmages and games.

* For this age group, technical training should be the focus.


Good Work Ethics Code

*  Come to the field on time for training or games.

*  Get proper rest & eat properly for training and games.

*  Give 150% in training or games.

*  Have proper equipment for training or games.

*  Be responsible & train in between organized training.

*  Stay focused at all times.

*  Be coachable & apply what you are learning in games.

*  Be respectful & honest.

*  Have a good attitude.

*  Set objectives & goals for yourself.


U-14 Thru U-17

*  Always at every practice go over foot skills & touches.

*  Always play one on one with 2 goals about 35 yards apart with a keeper in each goal.

*  Work on passing with accuracy, good pace on ball, and communication.

*  Work on passing with a trailer and timing of runs.

*  Work on give & go’s allowing only one touch with slant runs.

*  Work on give & go’s allowing only one touch with slant runs looking over your shoulder.

*  Speed dribbling under control with head up.

*  Head balls with crosses and players making near post and far post runs.

*  Work on formation that best suits your team personality.

*  Set up drills for offense and defense practice using half field.

*  Practice switching point of attack with speed of play.

*  Work on tactical training by using full field and walking players through exercise on different
    runs to be made.

*  Work on defensive skills -  shaping, how to tackle & win the ball.

*  Work on going to goal for finishing with speed.

*  Speed training with ladder work.

*  Conditioning & fitness.

*  Play plenty of transition games and possession games with plenty of coaching being done on
    movement off the ball.

*  Incorporate training for proper stretching to prevent all injuries.

For U-15, 16, and 17; Bring in guest trainers, college coaches, for showcasing & going to
    showcase tournament.
